Cypress Is at the Crossroads of Los Angeles and Orange County

Cypress, California is a great small city in northwest Orange County, just east of the border of Los Angeles County. It’s known for its excellent schools, beautiful parks, and great location.

Cypress has a reputation as a safe, suburban community. Houses are spacious and comfortable, and the area is relatively affluent. Children attend elementary school in the award-winning Cypress Elementary School District. The junior high and high schools are in the Anaheim Union High School District. Two of the high schools stand out. Oxford Academy is ranked the 30th best public school in California. It’s a small school with 1,250 students in 7th through 12th grade. Cypress High School has 2,900 students in 9th through 12th grade and also earns top marks. Students can continue to higher education close to home at Cypress Community College.

Cypress Offers Great Parks and Outdoor Activities

The city has 20 parks, where residents can gather for a picnic or barbecue. Kids play on the playgrounds, and adults play basketball, pickleball, or tennis. There’s also a skate park for skateboarders and inline skaters. The recreation department has a full schedule of sports and classes for kids and adults. Kids play basketball and volleyball. Adults join leagues for badminton, volleyball, basketball, or softball. The senior center is a meeting place for older adults to socialize and do service projects. Each summer sees the return of the Concerts on the Green series. There’s also the Cypress Run.

Cypress is located near where the 605, 405, 22, and 91 freeways intersect. Highway 5 is also very close. This gives residents quick access to many famous landmarks throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Disneyland and Knott’s Berry Farm are each a short drive away. Seal Beach is the city’s southern neighbor, and it’s only about 20 minutes to the beach. Cypress is a great place to put down roots and raise a family.
