Garden Grove Offers Local History and Modern Diversity
Garden Grove, California is a suburban city located in north Orange County. It’s known as a family-friendly place with good public schools and a central location.
Garden Grove is a diverse area, with a strong agricultural history, a large Vietnamese community, and a large Hispanic community. There are lots of fun, inexpensive eateries serving up authentic cuisines from all over the world. Garden Grove Boulevard is one of the places where there are a large number of Korean and Vietnamese restaurants.

Garden Grove Unified School District serves most of the city, though some parts are in one of five other districts. Many of the schools from elementary through high school have A ratings on Niche.comm including Patton and Loyal Barker Elementary schools, Sarah McGarvin Intermediate, Pacifica High School, and La Quinta High School. Each one performs in the top tier of schools in California.
Like the rest of Orange County, Garden Grove enjoys beautiful sunny weather practically all year. It’s a great place to spend time outdoors. There are 15 city-owned parks, with playgrounds, picnic areas, and barbecues. Residents play basketball, horseshoes, tennis, handball, street hockey, and more. Three parks have public pools. The recreation department sponsors sports leagues for adults and children, along with art and music classes and swimming lessons in the summer.
Garden Grove has a great location for exploring everything that Los Angeles and Orange County have to offer. Highway 22 runs through the city from east to west. The 405 and 5 freeways intersect with the 22 at the western and eastern ends of the city. Anaheim, the location of, Disneyland is just to the north, and the county capitol, Santa Ana, is to the south. It’s a 20 to 30 minute drive to get to one of the beaches in Seal Beach or Huntington Beach.
